]]> Thefts in Shimla are a common phenomenon now.
Two weeks back my car (Scorpio) was parked in Lift Parking, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
In such a busy place, someone opened the rear side glass and took away my pretty costly Dell XPS M1210 Notebook.
For me it was more of a data loss other then Hardware.
Visited Police Station for a week regularly but of no use (Typical Sarkari Attitude)
A few Tips I learnt after this great Loss
1. Atleast keep the power on Password in notebook so that its of no use for other as its almost impossible to reset the bios of notebook.
2. Never believe a ‘Taxi Driver’ in Himachal Pradesh. After taking you into confidence he can steal any thing from your luggage in your absence.
3. They operate in a professional manner, after keeping your luggage in Car, taxi driver will accompany you and in the mean time Owner of taxi will take away the car with duplicate key, rob it off, and park it back. And you will never understand what happened!!!!!! While I was taking my notebook with me, my driver told me ‘ sir yahan par safe hai’
4. Never keep anything in car not even a single needle even if the taxi driver assures you .......
